Area Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 vehicles have been smeared with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Police state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been applied in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Law enforcement then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation outlawing the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.
Officials say initial examinations show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.
"At present there remains no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet aware of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities said they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking official said the vandalism made him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the death of nine victims by a shooter aiming at residents of foreign heritage in 2020.
