19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and struggles with his serving in particular - caused him exiting of the top ten and finally parting ways with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court from that period of the previous year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured 21 championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to get a trophy is really nice," said ranked player Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his past six championship matches, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's retrieving approach and frequent reactions on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to play at the top level was finished.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an improved serve.

He recovered from a deficit in the first set against the challenging opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five points to take the lead.

The pair swapped break points in the following set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, took control to push for a third set.

He defended four early-game opportunities in a tight third set before the champion secured a break to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, he earned victory with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
