Patriots Match Best Victory Run From Brady Years with Triumph Over New York Jets
Rookie TreVeyon Henderson has scored five TDs this season
New England equaled their top unbeaten stretch since the Tom Brady period as they beat AFC East rivals the Jets 27-14 in the NFL
First-year standout Henderson led the way with three TDs as the Patriots secured an eighth consecutive victory for the first time since legendary quarterback Brady's closing campaign with the team in 2019
QB Maye accumulated 281 yards and a touchdown, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
The triumph bolsters the New England's lead at the summit of the AFC East as they improved to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after falling to a 2-8 mark
The visitors had scored first at their home field with QB Justin Fields running in a short rushing score to conclude the New York's opening drive
But the New England fought back in the second quarter as Henderson ran in two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Maye at the back of the end zone halfway into the third quarter to push the score to 21 to 7
"That was a crucial moment for him stepping up, and it's been fantastic for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."
Justin Fields found John Metchie late in the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two kicks in the final period as the home side sealed the win
